Week 3- Hardware

This week in class, Professor Rubin talked about hardware and computer forensics. While I was not able to really integrate any computer forensics into my project, I found ways to incorporate hardware. I took information from both Professor Rubin and from the textbook this week for hardware.

While this chapter focuses primarily on computers or the "system unit", I found some things  that could possibly be of use for the car. First off, I would need a memory card that I could stick into a port on an automobile, and then when the customer is finished recording the songs he/she wants from the car, he could simply eject the card from the car and put it into the computer. Depending on what is more popular in cars, a USB flash drive might be an even easier option because mostly all laptops have USB ports. These flash drives would just have to hold a sufficient amount of memory from all the music that will be getting put into them.

More on the computer side, customers may want to have computers with a pretty powerful hard drive. The more memory on the computer the better because if this idea hits off like it should, transferring music from USB to computer will go very quickly and before you know it, you will have a lot of songs on your computer. Having a good memory will keep your computer fast even with all of these files on it.

Week 2- Social Media Privacy/Excel

I am now on week 2 in my blog for my entrepreneurial idea. This past week Professor Rubin talked about both privacy in social media as well as the program excel. While I could not find any direct connections to these two lecture topics and my music device, I found ways that will benefit the idea in the long run if it were to really get going.

Last week in my blog I talked about how I could get my idea out there by making a page on Facebook as well as posting tweets and status' about the idea. In terms of social media privacy, I wouldn't want that. I want my idea to be out there so people can start to learn about it and give me there feedback. I know with twitter there is not much I can do to edit my privacy settings because it is a more open website, but with Facebook I can. I definitely wouldn't want my idea to be taken from me by somebody else if they looked at the Facebook page and tried duplicating it, however it would have to be a risk I would have to take in order for my idea to get off the ground.

By using excel, I would not be able to advance my idea at all because it is a computer program, however it could be a nice compliment for the device if it were to be successful. Excel has many great features I was not aware of before this lecture, most important being the pivot table feature. Pivot tables enable somebody to quickly and easily summarize and analyze large amounts of data. In the beginning of the idea, I will not have a lot of data to be sorted out, but if this idea were to become big, I would need a tool like this to sort things such as the profit we are making and where that profit is coming from, as well as many other variables; this could all be done through excel.

Week 1-Idea

For my entrepreneurial project, I have decided to make a device that when you are listening to the radio, if the song is appealing to you, you can enter a CD or SD card into the car or radio, and with the click of a button, automatically transfer the song to that device. I think this is a good idea because it can some times be annoying if you don't know the name of the song you're listening too but you really like it so you don't even bother trying to find out. With this device you can transfer the song right to a computer where you can find the title of the song.

In professor Rubin's lectures, we have been talking about social media and the impact it has had on society. For my idea, I would use both Facebook and Twitter to market my product. Twitter gets 1.6 billion searches a day so if I use a popular hashtag, such as #XMRadio, I could possibly get some retweets on my product, and get some good feedback, as well as some criticism about what I could do better for the product.

For Facebook, I could create a page for my product advertising it. I could tag the page in my status' and hope that it would soon build and get a lot of "likes". I these two website are my best bet at getting my product out to the world and hopefully make it grow into something big.
